An actor who was on the Titan submersible said the craft suffered a communication failure. Alan Estrada told the Daily Mail the craft lost communication with its vessel ship for two hours. Despite the issues, Estrada told the news outlet he was made aware of the risks of the dive before he traveled. On Sunday, five people taking the same trip went missing after the submersible lost communication with its surface vessel two hours into its descent. Mike Reiss, who has taken four dives with OceanGate's Titan, said there were communication issues on his trips.

The company also boasted of collaborations with reputable institutions that have since denied partnering with OceanGate on the submersible in question.
